Solid Oak Taxidermy Shields – Roe Deer & Muntjac Size Mounts

Traditional solid oak taxidermy shields, designed for professional taxidermists, collectors and natural history displays.

Each shield is made from solid oak and individually shaped, routed, moulded and sanded in our workshop to create a substantial, high-quality mounting plaque. Choose from three traditional profiles, with a selection of finishes and optional extras to suit your display.

Ideal for mounting roe deer and muntjac skulls and antlers.

Shield Styles & Sizes

Classic Long – 150 × 290mm
A narrow, elongated profile with a traditional trophy-mount appearance. Ideal where a slimmer shield is preferred.

Crown – 250 × 208mm
A wider profile featuring a raised central point and curved shoulders, providing a broader mounting area.

Classic Pointed – 210 × 264mm
A traditional pointed shield profile with curved shoulders, ideal for classic skull and antler presentation.

These sizes are designed to suit typical roe deer and muntjac displays. As individual specimens vary, please check the dimensions of your mount before ordering.

Choose Your Finish

Choose the appearance that best complements your specimen:

Natural Oak – supplied in natural oak, allowing the character and grain of the timber to remain the focus.

Antique Stain (+£2) – a rich, darker finish for a more traditional appearance.

Additional protective finishes are also available:

Natural Osmo Oil (+£2) – enhances and protects the natural oak while retaining its natural appearance.

Clear Lacquer (+£2) – provides a durable protective coating and can be used where a more sealed finish is preferred.

As solid oak is a natural material, variations in grain, colour and character are to be expected. These natural differences mean every shield will be unique.

Optional Keyhole Hanging Slot

A recessed keyhole hanging slot can be machined into the reverse (+£2).

This provides a neat method of hanging the finished mount from a suitable screw while keeping the fixing concealed behind the shield.

Optional Engraving

For professional taxidermists, your logo, business name or signature can be discreetly engraved onto the reverse of the shield, providing a permanent maker's mark on your finished work.

Front engraving can also be produced by request, including specimen details, dates, locations or other personalised information.

Personalised engraved plaques can also be supplied to accompany your shield, including details such as:

These can be produced in a range of sizes and layouts to suit the mount.

We can manufacture custom taxidermy shields in alternative shapes and sizes.

If you have an existing shield you'd like us to replicate, your own template or drawing, or simply need a particular size for a specimen, please get in touch.

Templates can be precision cut before the shield is shaped and finished in our workshop, allowing us to produce both one-off designs and repeat profiles.
